Course Description

This course is designed to review the keyboard and introduce the Microsoft Office Suite.  Emphasis will be on becoming more proficient with Word, PowerPoint, Access & Excel.  The end of the Semester is reserved for learning more of the advanced HTML topics which is used to create Web pages.

Course Description 
This course is the study of analyzing, classifying and recording business transactions in a manual and computerized environment. Emphasis is on the complete accounting cycle and preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, and payroll. This course also includes accounting for taxes, discounts, debit & credit memorandums, receivables and payables, inventory and plant assets.

Course Description:
This course is designed to focus on the planning, creation, selling, financing, and distribution of the Battle Lake High School Yearbook. Students in the Yearbook class are the leaders and decision makers of the yearbook staff..  Yearbook class students will complete a number of tasks to create a quality yearbook that reflects the pictorial history of the activities for the present school year.  The finished product will be completely student-generated. Work outside of normal classroom hours will occasionally be necessary for this class.

Course Description
This course is an introduction to the design, creation and maintenance of web pages and websites. Students will learn about web design standards and how to create web pages using HTML and Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Course Description
This course is an introduction to real-life business related topics.  The topics covered will be determined by the students in the course.  Ideas will be chosen from the following list but is not limited to just these topics:  Banking & Finance; Insurance Concepts; Financial Math & Analysis; Word Processing “Word”; Spreadsheets “Excel”; Database  “Access”; Legal Office Procedures; Medical Office Procedures; Desktop Publishing; Web Design; Ethics & Professionalism; Parliamentary Procedure.

Course Description
This course is designed to offer students the opportunity to use desktop publishing skills in the production of various projects.  Students will learn Microsoft Publisher to produce attractive documents that effectively use and display proper desktop publishing strategies. Graphic design and page layout techniques are emphasized.  Examples of some of the projects that will be created are as follows: flyers, letterheads, business cards, bumper stickers, gift certificates, t-shirt designs, newsletters, brochures, etc..


PREREQUISITES:                Required for all 12th grade students 
DESCRIPTION:  The goal of this course is to broaden student understanding of economics as it impacts the individual, community, state, nation, and world.  Microeconomic and macroeconomic principles will both be covered in this course.  Comprehension of various economic terms is essential to understanding economic concepts.  As the students learn more about the functions of business, society, and government; supply and demand; markets and prices; and international economic policy, they will become better informed about economic growth in the United States and the world.  A unit on personal finance and investing is also part of the course.  Economics is designed to provide students with the knowledge to effectively manage their resources and make informed decisions relating to their personal lives and as citizens in a democratic society.
